Splash-A-Thon
21 July 2010: Help Hunter Mill Swimmers
raise money and awareness for the Joey Pizzano Memorial
Fund and "Our Special Harbor Sprayground", Fairfax
County’s first handicap accessible, zero-depth waterpark.
Monday, July 26th
during Hunter Mill Practices!
Our Splash-A-Thon is a
swim-a-thon like event where swim team members may
collect sponsors or donors to help raise awareness and
funds for "Our Special Harbor Splashground", the first
fully accessible, zero water depth water park in Fairfax
County. While swimmers enjoy the fun of the pool every
day in the summer, many children with special needs are
not able to play safely in a swimming pool. "Our Special
Harbor" is the first sprayground in Fairfax County where
kids with special needs can have a fun and safe water
adventure. The sprayground is currently being built at
Lee District Park and the funds raised at our
Splash-A-Thon will go directly to the construction of
the above ground sprays and equipment. All funding for
the sprayground is through the Joey Pizzano Memorial
Fund. If we raise enough money we may be able to name a
piece of equipment or spray after Hunter Mill! Donor
Forms and Flyer will be mailed to each Hunter Mill Swim
Team Family. Forms can also be found
here on this
website. Each swimmer may collect as many sponsors
and/or donations as they wish; all swimmers will swim
their morning practice on July 26th regardless of
whether they are participating in the Splash-A-Thon.
Donor forms and money collected are due either at the
Swim-A-Thon, Monday July 26th, otherwise ALL MONEY IS
DUE by July 31st to Carola Williamson. .
VAC, Dunn Loring and
Vienna Woods are also participating in this great
event...let's see who can raise the most money!!
For more information
on the sprayground and the JPMF visit
www.jpmf.org or for more information about the
Splash-A-Thon contact Carola Williamson at
carwilliamson@gmail.com
Thanks in advance for
your help and participation! |

Welcome to the 2010 Swim Team
Season
28 Feb 2010: Given the winter that we have had,
we are
sure everyone is happy to hear that the 2010 Swim Team
season is here! Although practices and meets are
still a few months away, the planning and administration
of "summer swim" starts now! We welcome the 2010 season
with several changes (a new coach, a new division and a
new lead team rep, to name a few), but with the same
amount of enthusiasm and effort. |

28 Feb 2010: This year the Hunter Mill Sharks will be
competing in Division 3 as the number one seed.
We will be joined by Donaldson Run, Dunn
Loring, Wakefield Chapel, Fox Mill Woods,
and Fairfax. We are excited about our new
seeding given the caliber of the teams in Division 3.
We feel well-matched and our swimmers will have the
opportunity to be competitive in a talented, respectable
field. |

Potomac Valley Swim Program
How do those Saturday swimmers get so
fast? Most of them are members of year-round swim teams
and they practice throughout the fall, winter, and
spring with their club teams. We are very fortunate to
live in one of the best regions in the country for
year-round swimming. We have swimmers who compete for
some of the top-rated teams in the entire country,
including Curl-Burke Swim Club, The Fish, Machine
Aquatics, Mason Makos, Potomac Marlins, and York Swim
Club. These clubs offer programs for many different
abilities and different levels of commitment. Please
feel free to contact Coach Billy McDonald at
703-895-9384 to discuss options for your swimmers
if they wish to pursue winter swimming. Or check out the
Potomac Valley website @
www.pvswim.org. It’s the only way to get faster! |
