Atlantic Pool Service is offering group and private swim lessons at the pool this season. This is a great way to introduce the little ones to water adaptation and water safety.

Group Lessons - Group lesson sessions consist of ten (10) thirty minute classes for a minimum of $55 per student per session. Group lessons are given before normal operating hours. Two (2) sessions are offered, with a third session available if there is enough interest. Classes begin shortly after the last public school day. Registration is available by contacting the "Manager On Duty" up until the first day that a session begins. On the first day of each session, all students are evaluated and placed into the appropriate group according to skill level. The following groups are available:

  • Pre-Beginner - This level is for children that are trying to become familiar with the water. It stresses child acclimation to water. The basic skills taught at this level are bobbing, bubble blowing, and face in water. There will be a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of six (6) students per group at this level.

  • Beginner - This level is for children who are currently comfortable in the water and can show proficiency in the skills taught at the Pre-Beginner level. The basic skills taught at the Beginner level are back floating, front floating, crawling, kicking, treading water, and introduction to strokes. There will be a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of six (6) students per group at this level.

  • Intermediate - Students at this level should be proficient in the skills taught at the Beginner level. They will begin working on basic strokes and rhythmic breathing. The basic skills taught at the Intermediate level are introduction to freestyle with breathing, sidestroke, backstroke, and breaststroke. There will be a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of eight (8) students per group at this level.

  • Advanced - This level prepares students for competitive swimming. Strokes are analyzed and corrected. The basic skills taught at the Advanced level are improvement of strokes, diving, and turning. There will be a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of ten (10) students per group at this level.

Private Lessons - Private lessons are available upon request. Each lesson is given by an instructor on their own time at a price mutually agreed upon by the instructor and the person obtaining the lesson.

Payment - Payment for group and private lessons is due prior to the start of each group session or private lesson and should be paid directly to the instructor teaching the course.

Refunds - In the event classes are canceled, for any reason, an attempt to reschedule the lesson(s) will be made. If the lesson(s) can not be rescheduled or accommodated during a makeup session, a refund will be made for the lesson(s) not completed.

Cancellation/Make-up Policy - Parents/Guardians will be notified by the instructor if lessons need to be rescheduled for any reason. In the event that classes are canceled for weather, notification will take place as soon as a decision is made. A sign will also be posted at the pool entrance. Make-up days have been provided in the event of cancellation. Substitute instructors may be used to complete a lesson. Please contact the "Manager on Duty" if you have any questions regarding the status of a lesson (private or group), this includes late or absent instructors.
